Introducing the Hymn Amazing Grace for Low and High D Whistles

In this video I introduce the tune Amazing Grace. This is a great hymn for beginners to use to learn to play, but also for more experienced players to use to work on their expression.

John Newton would write hymns to go along with his sermons, and he wrote this hymn to speak of the Lord’s care and grace in our lives even while we may be his enemies. Anyone who knew John in his youth or early adult years would never have imagined he would attend a church let alone become a minister. But it happened.

John spent a number of his young adult years working in the slave trade. He later spoke strongly such activities.
