Be Thou My Vision

Irish tunes are often taught by listening to a tune and repeating it. Printed music is available for many tunes, as are tabs, but a good deal of how Irish music is taught is by listening and imitating.

The tunes of this beautiful music are maintained, but also personalized. This personalization cannot be captured in musical notations.

This is why I want us to learn to learn this skill.

In today’s video I share the beautiful Irish hymn, Be Thou My Vision. I demonstrate the tune, and then play it more slowly phrase by phrase.
