Inisheer

In this video we learn the beautiful tune, Inisheer.

I share the story behind the tune, I play the tune without ornaments, and then talk about some of the sections.

Thomas Walsh wrote Inisheer after spending what he calls the “best holiday of his life” on the island. This tune has many incredibly interpretations, but I have come to appreciate and enjoy the simplicity of Thomas’s original.

I provide two downloads for this tune. This first version is a transcription of the way Thomas played Inisheer on his album Ethnic Tears. The second is slightly modified to reflect Thomas’s simplicity, but based on one of the primary settings found on the Session website.
