A New Ornament: Tap / Strike

Hi, friends.

In this video we introduce a new ornament, the tap.

The tap is a very helpful ornament and is similar to the cut. The tap is achieved by bouncing a finger off of the note immediately below the one you are playing.

Practice this ornament slowly in order to ensure adequate hole coverage on the tap. Pick up speed as you become comfortable, until the tap is little more than the entry into the note.

The tap is often played on the second of two consecutive notes that are the same. Therefore, a great way to practice this ornament is to play a scale. Play each note twice, and tap the entry to the second note.

Experiment with this ornament, and mix up the ornaments you use in your playing.
