One Tin Whistle is Likely Not Enough, Add Whistles to Fill Gaps

Hi, friends.

We’ve spoken about the factors we use in selecting a whistle. These are items such as key, octave, tone qualities, expressiveness, consistent tuning, consistent volume, volume, and more.

We generally purchase our first whistle based on what we really want to play. In my case it was a Howard Low D whistle. After this we generally want to get the same key of whistle in another octave. In my case I wanted a high D. There are other factors that will cause us to want additional whistles.

There is no one whistle that does everything. If you want a session that can be heard during a session, and if you want a whistle with a soft and gentle tone to play at home, then you need to select two different whistles.

Be prepared that you will need to purchase additional whistles, bu t you and I can avoid getting carried away by deciding what characteristics we want in a whistle and purchasing based on these.
